Calgary headquartered Whissell Contracting was among the first to recognize the potential of the Fulton Industrial Park in Rocky View County.
The company, which has been operating in Calgary since 1970, was the first to buy a piece of land in Fulton in 2015 before development had begun, says Jarrad Whissell, President of Whissell Contracting (www.whissell.ca).
“We purchased the first two lots there with a total of 15 acres between them. For now we are using them as secure storage for our equipment and for servicing and staging of equipment and materials, but we see a lot of upside in this location over time” he says. This corridor along Hwy 22x is going to be increasingly important as Calgary grows.
The move to Fulton was based on value and future proofing.
“We had a storage yard within the City of Calgary but between increases in taxes land values and everything over the 10 years or so we owned it, we decided it was time to maybe look at something a little less expensive with a bit more upside and room to grow” says Whissell.
“That’s when we found the Fulton project, before it had begun development, and made a deal to buy 15 acres there. We see the potential for growth in this area and were basically able to almost buy 15 acres by selling eight acres in the City of Calgary pretty much.”
The Fulton Industrial Park is a 525 acre master planned industrial development located directly on the Highway 22x corridor just east of Calgary in Rocky View County.
